Wednesday 1st May started off as a nice day but the weather deteriorated and it became wet and cold. Malmesbury had travelled to Devizes in the knowledge that it was the first grass green game of the season, and ythe weather conditions would add to the disadvantage of playing away from the "Malmesbury Mat".

After much prevarication whether to play or not, whether to play 12 or 18 ends, it was decided to play 18 ends with one shot counting on the first two ends.

Roy's rink adapted to conditions and the grass green better than the other Malmesbury rinks and won. Andy's and Rob's rinks did very well but lost in the last few ends. Tim's rink did not adapt to the grass green and lost heavily.

Overall Devizes won by 12-2 on points, and 80-64 on shots.

The league table is here, with Malmesbury at 6th in the table. http://www.bowlswiltshire.co.uk/mens-four-rink-league-south/.

Malmesbury travel to Chippenham Park next week.
