Summer is Here - Competitions Update
Malmesbury Bowls and Social Club
After a terrible week of weather, the summer has arrived at last. Let's hope it stays with us for the rest of the bowls season. Our Ladies have their first league fixture next Monday.
Wiltshire Four Rink League
This week's fixture against Corsham was postponed as the away team had a COVID outbreak. We are waiting to see if the match will be played or the "panel" will decide the result at the end of the season.
Last week, Malmesbury managed their first awy win of the season. They beat Trowbridge Westbourne by 10-4 on points and 65-56 on shots. Malmesbury moved up to fourth in the Division 2 South league table - http://www.mbasc.online/community/malmesbury-bowls-and-social-club-9981/fixturesleagues/
Cotswold League
Malmesbury lost their home game against Cirencester A last week by 2-8 on points and 56-62 on shots. This week, there was better news, as Malmesbury beat Frampton-on-Severn B by 10-0 on points and 64-39 on shots. Well done to all involved in this victory.
Malmesbury move up to second place in Division 3 of the Cotswold League - https://www.southcotswoldbowls.co.uk/?page_id=87. The division is halfway through the season. Malmesbury have two home games and four away games to secure promotion to Division 2.
National and County Competitions
Roy's triple won their County Over 60s Triples match against Pewsey Vale to join Alan's triple in the next round, who had a walkover.
In the National Pairs, Neil and Paul won on the last end in their match at Marlborough. Alan and Bryan had a narrow defeat away against a very experienced Chippenham Town pair. Neil and Paul play at home against Swindon on Friday 21 June.
Tea and Biscuits
The match against North Wilts away last Friday was postponed due to the heavens opening and a deluge at two o'clock. The match will be played on Friday 21 June.
