Malmesbury A lost at home to Fairford on Tuesday 9th August. Two of the rinks were close but all three lost by the end of the match, so Malmesbury A lost 0-10.
The A team won 6 and lost 6 in their first year in Division 1 of the Cotswold League, and the A team did finish 5th http://www.southcotswoldbowls.co.uk/?page_id=75. The team knows what is needed to compete with the better teams now, Fairford A won all of their 12 games for example, and improvement will be needed next year to challenge the better teams for the top of the table.
Malmesbury B lost away at Tetbury on Monday 8th August. Two of the rinks won and one lost, but Tetbury had the better shots score, so Malmesbury B lost overall by 4-6 on points and 49-57. Well done to Pete Curnock for his captaincy this year.
The B team won 5 and lost 5 and the team finished 3rd in Division 4 of the Cotswold League http://www.southcotswoldbowls.co.uk/?page_id=90. The B team is important for new bowlers to learn the nuances of team play. Next year, the B team will be looking to win a promotion to Division 3.
