Men’s B v Men’s A Match
The return match for the B v A is this Sunday 23 October 2022 at 14:00. Can the B team prevail this time?
End of Season General Meeting
After the Captain’s v President’s match on Sunday 30 October, there will be the end-of-season meeting.
Before the end-of-season meeting, the trophies for the 2022 competitions will be presented.
Among items on the agenda for the meeting, the club officers for 2023 will be elected, a document explaining bowls etiquette will be distributed, volunteers to operate the bar will be requested, a proposal for after-match teas in 2023, a proposal for the new men’s changing room, that will allow us to create a new ladies’ changing room and revamp the toilets, and the membership fees for 2023 will be proposed.
There will be tea with the food provided by individual members. You can let the club know what you will be contributing to the tea by signing up on the notice board in the clubhouse.
Volunteers to Operate the Bar
The bar provides the major source of income for the club. Thanks to the volunteers we can operate the bar, provide low prices for the drinks, and still make a profit. We need more volunteers to operate the bar.
If we must employ people in the future, we will have to increase the prices to avoid making a loss when operating the bar. Please consider if you can help once a week for a few hours during the skittles season and contact Brian Reynolds. Thank you.
Green Maintenance
Dales will be repairing the ends of the green before the end of the year to make sure the ends are perpendicular to the green.
Items in the Men’s Changing Room
Please remove any items of clothing, bags, or boxes from the men’s changing room before the end of October, otherwise, any items remaining will be disposed of.
Smoking and Vaping Signs
Signs have been put around the green explaining that there is no smoking or vaping allowed within 1 meter of the green. This is to prevent damage to the playing surface and to avoid people inhaling unwanted smoke or vape whilst playing.
If you see anyone smoking or vaping near to or on the green, please ask them to stop immediately.
Bird Scarers
Please replace the bird scarers after playing matches or roll-ups. They are there for a purpose and they are effective at keeping off the birds. Egret poop is not easy to clean up.
Food Inspection
The club was awarded 4 stars after the inspection by the local council.
Scoreboard
The old scoreboard will be demolished to make way for a new men’s changing room. A skip will be delivered to the car park in November and volunteers are needed to demolish the scoreboard.
The current men’s and ladies' changing rooms will be reconfigured to provide a new ladies’ changing room, new toilets, and a disabled toilet.

Cotswold League
The Men’s A team managed to achieve their objective for 2022 which was NOT to be relegated in their first year in Division 1. The team finished 5th and the players know now what is needed to succeed next season.
In Division 4, the Men’s B team finished 3rd in the league which bodes well for next year. Congratulations to Pete Curnock on his first year of captaincy, he served longer than Liz Truss.
